Today’s video is an unusual one for sure. Last week I flew out to suburban Illinois to handle a few of his final affairs. As you might imagine, it was creepy as fuck.
Some person or persons had clearly looted the house, as there was basically nothing left there except wires and a few crappy old shoes and the like. For two days I stayed in this fuckin house in a sleeping bag on the couch, then immediately NOPEd the fuck out of there at the earliest opportunity, having handled the business.
It was almost like a weird meditation retreat, in the sense that I was alone and didn’t interact with anyone except the dudes at Chipotle. Being in this house where my father lived for the past 15 years or so, never having spoken to him in that time was incredibly surreal, and I came to a few conclusions about the experience. Check it out:
So that’s that. I gotta say, about this trip:
I’m glad I went, but I’m more glad it’s over. lol
If anything, this reinforced in my mind the absolute necessity of having established personal values that you strive to live up to every day, and further the importance of letting go of regrets and arriving at a place where you forgive yourself for your mistakes, learn from them and move forward. Always.
Like I say in the video, I’d learned these lessons long ago but being there really underscored their grave importance.
Anywho, back next week with another, hopefully more upbeat video, lol
